Students are required to attend at least 2 of the 4 art shows (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Final) during gallery hours (not during strength training or Ramsey Center practice). Art students must collect their work from the final art show. Failure to attend the shows or make proper arrangements with Mrs. Staton to see the work will result in grade impact. The tentative art show schedule is listed below, but students will be reminded weekly about the art shows and will receive a flyer for each show as it approaches. Up-to-date information can be found on the BVCPS Visual and Performing arts Facebook page.
Fall Art Show- HOURS October 12 9am-2pm  (Mountain Day), October 31 from 4:30-7pm (Downtown Halloween)

Welcome!
I am excited to begin another year of teaching at Parry McCluer High School. I believe the purpose of art education is to provide all students with an experience that cannot be found in any other subject due to its richness in image-based discovery. Through the study and creation of images, students gain an understanding of history, culture, and personal meaning. Visual perception is a substantial part of learning. To be deprived of this resource would be detrimental to the development of a student submerged in a world full of images.
By enrolling in art, your child has taken a positive step in their future success. I hope to have a strong correlation between the art program at PMHS and the community. Without parental involvement and awareness, it simply would not be possible.4

The art room is always in need of supplies such as newspaper, magazines, dish soap, packaging tape, glue sticks, etc. Even any microwave meal trays or yogurt cups that come in are extremely useful! I would be so appreciative if you were able to send any of these items in with your student. Your student is required to purchase their own sketchbook this year. It can be any spiral or hard-bound book with blank paper, as long as it is at least 8.5’’x11’’. If there is any concern over this purchase, do not hesitate to contact me and we can surely work something out.

I strongly encourage you to keep in touch with your student’s grades via Power School. I will do my best to keep it updated at all times. Please contact me over any concerns or interests you may have. I look forward to communicating with you.

Sincerely,
Krista Castrodale Staton
